1. Indiana Jones Movie Series (1981-2008)

Indiana Jones is a series of four movies about a fictional archeology professor and his adventures.

The first installment of the series is Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Set in 1936, the story follows Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) who is on a mission to find the legendary Ark of the Covenant. It is believed that the Ark has powers and the Nazis want to obtain it so they can win the war. Indy must infiltrate their digging operation and locate the ark.

The second installment Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) is the prequel to the original story (set in one year before, in 1935). When Jones and his companions end up in a small village in India, he is asked by the villagers for help. The secret cult is enslaving children in the Temple of Doom and Indiana is the one to save them and retrieve their sacred stone.

The third installment Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) is set in 1938 and it’s a sequel to the original movie. This time, while pursuing the Holy Grail, Indiana Jones will find out that his father (Sean Connery) has also been looking for the same artifact and is now kidnapped by the Nazis. Now, in a race to find The Holy Grail before the Nazis, Indy is also on a rescue mission to free his father.

The final installment in the series (so far) titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) is released nineteen years after The Last Crusade. This time the story is set in 1957 and Indiana is up against Soviet agents in a search for an artifact known as the Crystal Skull. Together with companions Mutt Williams (Shia LeBeouf) and Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) Indiana will face many dangers, including jungle, Soviets led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), and the supernatural.

A fifth Indiana Jones movie is scheduled for release in 2022.

With a score of 8.4 on IMDb Raiders of the Lost Ark is the highest-rated movie in the series. It won four Academy Awards (Best Art Direction, Film Editing, Sound, and Visual Effects). Both Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) won the Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) is the lowest rated in the series, but all four movies were a huge box office success (Crystal Skull grossed over $790 million worldwide).

2. Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy (1984-1994)

In the first movie of the series, Foley is investigating the murder of his good friend. The clues lead him to Beverly Hills. The owner of the art gallery, where Foley’s friend Jenny works, is the same guy for whom the killer works too. Jenny’s boss Victor is using the gallery as the front for smuggling drugs. When Axel visits Victor and makes no trouble, the two Beverly Hills detectives, Billy Rosewood and John Taggart are assigned to keep an eye on him. Eventually, he will team up with them to bring down the bad guy.

In the sequel and the second installment in the movie series, Axel Foley learns about the assassination attempt on the Beverly Hills police Captain Bogomil. He became good friends with Bogomil the last time he visited Beverly Hills. Foley will reunite with Taggart and Rosewood to solve this crime committed by an attractive tall woman. The police chief Lutz will not make the investigation easy for them.

In the third and last movie in the series (so far) Axel Foley will once again return to Beverly Hills. After a raid on a chop shop in Detroit, Foley’s boss, Inspector Todd was gunned down. The clues lead Foley to an amusement park Wonder World in Beverly Hills. His old friend Billy Rosewood, who’s been promoted since the last time they met, will help him to investigate the matter. After Foley meets the Wonder World head of security DeWald, he is convinced that this guy is behind Inspector Todd’s murder. The problem is, nobody, including Billy’s new partner Jon, believes him.

3. Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995)

5. Gladiator (2000)

After escaping his ordered execution, Maximus ends up in slavery, trained to be a gladiator. He will rise through the ranks of the arena and become a great gladiator waiting for a chance to avenge the death of his family and the emperor.

Gladiator won five Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Actor for Crowe, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects).

6. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

Based on the popular Tomb Raider video game series, the movie revolves around Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) who is on a dangerous quest to find an ancient talisman. A rare planetary alignment is about to happen and a secret society desperately needs to find the talisman so they can use it to control time. To find it they need a key which Lara happens to have. After they steal the key from her, she must find and destroy the talisman before the cult uses it.

A sequel to this movie called Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life was released in 2003.

One day he is attacked and even though he manages to eliminate several of the kidnappers, he is outnumbered and the girl is taken. Now his new purpose in life is to find her and execute everyone involved.
